When I stepped on the S Bahn train at Berlin Central Station, there was a guitarist and a violinist on there playing Putting on the Ritz. The Central Station is absolutely stunning, it takes the breath away every time you see it; it is one of the wonders of Europe. How Chartres Cathedral might once have taken medieval breaths away, so does the Hauptbahnhof now. However, it has destroyed Berlin Zoo Station. The Terrassen Am Zoo restaurant has closed, and unbelievably, so has Thobens Bakery opposite. I am lost without those Thoben ham & egg rolls that have sustained me during so many Berlin visits.
